Perhaps the most iconic member of the Honda utility vehicle lineup, due to its numerous awards through the years, the Honda CR-V has been around since the 1996 model year. It’s currently in the middle of its fifth generation, with the 2021 Honda CR-V available now near Tacoma WA. Last year, the model received its mid-generation facelift, which is carried over for the new model year. The CR-V makes an excellent option in the compact crossover segment for any driver looking for versatile space inside a stylish and fuel-efficient vehicle.
Due to all the exciting changes last year, Honda didn’t need to make any updates for the 2021 model year. Last year’s updates included new 18” alloy wheels for the EX and EX-L trims and larger 19” alloy wheels on the Touring trim level, updates to the front fascia, side skirts and rear bumper – the latter two of which feature chrome inserts – LED front fog lamps on all trims but the LX, a few new exterior color options and standardized Honda Sensing across the board. Of course, it was also the debut of the CR-V Hybrid, which was certainly a big deal.
The Honda CR-V is powered by a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, which makes it capable of generating 190 horsepower alongside 179 pound-feet of torque. When equipped with the two-wheel drive system, it achieves 30 miles per gallon combined across city and highway driving, or 29 mpg with all-wheel drive*.
It’s also got a versatile cabin that not only has plenty of space for passengers, cargo or some combination of both, but also has useful features that enable you to configure the cabin to best fit whatever you need to bring along, like the 60/40 split rear seatback.
