Crossovers and other utility vehicles continue to increase in popularity each year, so much so that some manufacturers are even beginning to discontinue sedan nameplates. The Honda Pilot has represented a great option in the midsize utility vehicle segment since it was introduced back for the 2003 model year. Now, three generations later, the 2020 Honda Pilot continues to be a great choice near Tacoma WA.
Last year, the Pilot underwent a mid-generation facelift, refreshing its interior, exterior and feature offerings. Not much changed for the new model year, save the introduction of a new trim level, bringing the total to six for the Pilot. They are the LX, EX, EX-L, Touring, Elite and the new Black Edition.
Despite being available in six different trim levels, the 2020 Pilot is available with just one powertrain. That means even the entry-level trims have the same great power and performance as the top-of-the-line ones. The powertrain is centered around a 3.5L V6 engine that’s capable of generating 280 horsepower alongside 262 pound-feet of torque.
When shopping for a utility vehicle like the Pilot, how much space it has in the cabin is just as important as performance specs, perhaps even more important to some shoppers. How much space you have in the Pilot can vary depending on trim level, unlike performance specs. In the LX, EX, EX-L and Touring trims, the Pilot provides 16.5 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats, 46.8 cu. ft. behind the second-row seats and 83.9 cu. ft. behind the front seats. The Elite and Black Edition lose a little bit of space, changing those numbers to 16.0, 46.0 and 82.1 cu. ft. respectively.
Those numbers can further be adjusted by moving the seats all the way to their forward and into their upright position, enhancing each of these six numbers by a bit. When it comes to passenger volume, the LX and EX trims provide 152.9 cu. ft., the EX-L and Touring 151.7 cu. ft. and the Elite and Black Edition 153.1 cu. ft.
The Pilot is also packed full of great content both inside and out. To learn more about the standard and available features found in the Pilot, don’t hesitate to give us a call.
